Animation Final

So, this is our final project in animation class. We had to animate a flour sack falling into stage then by following the x-sheet provided to us, we had to animate the proper timing and movements. It was by far the most entertaining (and time/paper consuming) of our projects thus far. It was nice to have such control over the character, and at the same time quite difficult! Hopefully you guys can appreciate the time and effort I have put into this lil guy!
Oh, and sorry about the resolution/blurriness at the end... blogger kinda downsized my video...

Antic Cape

So, as an add on to the antic box assignment, we created a cape for our box. This cape lets us experience "follow through and overlapping action" another of the animation principles. I found this assignment pretty hard to get the timing and movement right and look natural. But overall I like what I turned out with! Enjoy!

Antic Box

So, here's animation numero deux! In this assignment we explored 'anticipation' in our animations.
Currently we are working on a more advanced Inbetweening so it will be a couple weeks before we start on another animation, so enjoy!

Bouncing Ball - My First Animation!

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to upload my first animation of the year so you can take a look!
So far this is the basics of animation, focusing on the principles 'stretch and squash'. As the year goes on we will be focusing on more of the 12 principles. Currently we are creating an 'anticipation box' and I should have the video up next week!
Enjoy!

Another Start!

Hey Everyone!
Just a quick post to let everyone know I'm still around and kicking!
It was a very busy summer followed by an even busier start of the fall. Which also meant back to school for me!
After graduated from Graphic Design, I have decided to take a swing at Animation!
So currently I am in my 5/6th week of classes, one animation under my belt and another on its way! Hopefully I can find a way to upload videos on here, otherwise I'll be posting a link towards the youtube files soon!

a designers first blog!

Welcome everyone to my blog, my name is Jessica Ruttan.

When it comes to drawing, painting, photographing, and designing, these are not just art forms, they are also a means of communication. Shapes, colours, values, space, fonts and sizes are used to correspond to a certain meaning or emotion and can be used to emulate that same feeling in the viewer. As a Graphic Design graduate from Canadore College, I am able to understand the effects of these fundamentals on a person on a more subconscious level. In learning these basic principles of design I have developed skills in the following:
  • Adobe Creative Suite CS3 (Photoshop, Indesign, Dreamweaver)
  • Macromedia Flash (also Flash CS3)
  • Illustration
  • Photography
  • Able to work both on PC and Mac platforms
  • and lots more!
Some of my accomplishments include a second place standing in the logo competition for the 'Gateway Walkers' group of North Bay, and another second place standing for the Canadore College Christmas Card Painting. Our class has worked for a variety of different businesses in the community which has also given me hands on experience when working with a client.

Thank you for stopping by my blog! If you have any questions, comments or would like a quote please feel free to e-mail me. Thank you again!
